Never Go Back: (Jack Reacher 18)
About this deal
Reacher kept it going long enough to let their momentum establish, and then he whipped back through the reverse quarter circle toward them, by which time he was moving just as fast as they were, two hundred and fifty pounds about to collide head-on with four hundred, and he kept on twisting and threw a long left hook at the left-hand guy. Jack Reacher is back and don’t worry folks he’s back with his usual swagger, confidence and his remarkable ability to get things done, completely on his own terms and in his own time of course. As soon as he does two musclemen, clearly military men out of uniform, arrive at the motel and tell Reacher to get out of town, promising that no one will come looking for him if he does, and that they will beat the crap out of him if he refuses to do so. Reacher finally makes it to DC to meet the woman he talked with several books ago ("61 Hours") while he was being abused way out west. The cover is pretty with its turquoise waters and yellow highlights as a drop of water disturbs the reflection of the Senate building in the waters of the Potomac.
There was a low-pile carpet that after cleaning would dry in hours, so the room could rent again the same day. Lee Child was born October 29th, 1954 in Coventry, England, but spent his formative years in the nearby city of Birmingham.
There’s also a major question mark over something from his past and I think Lee Child missed a trick by not exploring this further because it could have spun a whole new series. The left-hand guy was all unstable and up on his heels and his center mass was open and unprotected.
I really enjoyed how Child took the story one way and then the next, introducing characters full of depth and flavour allowing them all to play a growing role in the outcome of the book. As is the norm in this series, Reacher is paired with a resourceful and beautiful woman, but in this case Susan is his successor as head of a specialist Army MP unit. It's so frustrating all this moving around and all this wandering, our hero can't settle down , i think deep down he's afraid of building a life for him and thus becoming an ordinary man .One of Waterstones’ very favourite authors, Lee Child sprang from redundancy at Granada Television in 1995 to rise to thriller-writing pre-eminence with his sequence of stories featuring ex-military policeman Jack Reacher. Ezra Shrago, one of the smugglers, to be arrested, and locates Scully and Montague at Dove Cottage, a private club, where both men choose to commit suicide rather than be arrested.
