About this deal

I’m not a huge fan of the treble tuning as that 9kHz spike hits precisely at a point where I am sensitive and to my ear, that needs some EQ to be usable. Things that live around the mids to upper mids are definitely having more life to it, sounding more airy yet retains natural timbre of things. Overall technicalities of KB Ear Storm are definitely average which is quite norm on the ultra-budget segment. Between the 2 sets, the BLON BL-01 is probably a tinge better in sound (if amped), but the fitting issues and the need for a higher powered source would mean I would give my recommendation to the KBEAR KS1, unless you have a good amp on hand. Mids regions are mostly recessed, vocals are just little bit recessed, tonality of voices are still precise but warmer than usual.

In general, the KBEAR Storm is a V shaped IEM with a slightly warm characteristic to it and slightly more emphasis on the mids and treble region. KBEAR says that they combined a 10mm composite diaphragm dynamic driver and balanced armature driver to create KS2.They’re relatively comfy, built well and are a great solution if you’re after some hard hitting IEM’s with some detail and clarity. is a ton of money for so many people in our world and I do want to make sure that you have a good and educated leg up on finding the right set for your life.

This is a fun sounding, B-Boy style tuning with a penchant for big bass riffs, warm and heavy bass drops and an altogether hip-hop style. However if instead of a plastic shell they had used some other material we would probably have had a much better sound. You could make an argument that the KB01 has a slightly more fun sound, if by “fun” you mean “a hair bassier”. I also reviewed the KBear Dumpling ( Dumpling Review HERE), KBear Rosefinch ( Rosefinch Review HERE), KBear Quinglong ( Quinglong Review HERE), KBear Storm ( Storm Review HERE), and KBear KW1 ( KW1 Review HERE) among many others. These caught me off guard as I didn’t expect such treble extension without being fatigued on such a budget set. However, once I began using the IFi Go Blu ( CS43131 dac chip) I found it hard to go to anything else for mobile purposes. After removing the initial cardboard, the IEM drivers immediately greet you whilst being covered by a clear plastic layer and are enclosed with foam. Walking down the street presents not just a pair of headphones, but a work of art that makes you shine. The lower-mids are smoother than they aren’t, and male vocalists come across rich enough to sound authoritative and realistic… Respectively.

Midrange is definitely recessed and laid back on presentation especially on a certain female vocal type but it is warm, gauzy and engaging. And with such boosted in high frequencies, micro details will be slightly easier to be heard (fake details?

In terms of timbral accuracy, the KBEAR KS1 is very natural and organic for acoustic instruments, as per its single DD roots. I have to say that the LARK fit my ear really well and I didn’t face any major discomfort when putting them on.
