About this deal

Highly recommend if you are a visual learner and are looking to get a brief yet detailed overview of all things brain! Understanding how our brain works helps us evaluate our own thought processes, and why we behave in certain ways. Sometimes these subconscious wirings can make us think or act in ways that are not optimal for our happiness – they can bring out the illogical in us all.

Lisa Mosconi, an expert in neuroscience and nutrition, knows that our brains have very specific food requirements. This is one of those graphical magazine format information books on a topic you see out there so much. And you would think the topic of the brain written in plain-as English, with diagrams, easily relevant anecdotes, it would be very accessible and easy to read. It is a super interesting and informative book that is simple and easy to understand on how our brain functions. From the way it controls and regulates our bodily functions to the mysterious complexities of the mind this book covers all facets in a very informative and graphical way that I found a most interesting read. Small, doable tasks offer a big payoff, and motivate us to keep learning and growing, with payoffs that include a boost in optimism, confidence, memory, cognitive skills, and more.

I’m giving it 4 stars because I think it could have been presented in a simpler way by providing more illustrations or a cheat sheet. this sorta just confirmed that i love neuroscience more than anything in the entire universe and that i will study it even if it’s the last thing i do. This stimulating new series is the beginner's guide to a wide range of scientific topics and topical issues affecting our daily lives. Ever feel that moment of excitement when you see your number displayed while waiting for an opening at the counter? Have your friend sit at a table with their dominant hand exposed over the edge, and have them make a pinching hold with their fingers.Illustrated with bold graphics and step-by-step artworks, and sprinkled with bite-sized factoids and question-and-answer features, this is the perfect introduction to the fascinating world of the human brain.
