About this deal

this is going to be the review that i’ll struggle the most because i have so much to say yet i’m still speechless. Had to roll my eyes at the Senator doing his own evil work but again this is a work of fiction and we all like a HEA so by him sending himself and not just sending “henchmen”, we could reach a happy conclusion faster. He’s intense need, love, admiration, irritation and every other explosive feeling he has for her is what kept me reading. He decided FOR her what her life should look like, and brutally, and repeatedly, rejected her for it.

And the whole “oh Remi you are just the most special girl in the world” and the other female characters hated her for being so special and taking all their shine literally made me want to burn the book. CHILDREN, like 8 and 10, are discussing their GENDER identity, naming numerous gender terms that are in mainstream media right now and discussing their own while asking Remi what hers is. She has living, breathing rejection trauma from this guy, and I wasn’t convinced that he was sorry or that she was able to forgive him.He rejected her again and again because he was a big chickenshit, or because he was doing "the right thing" by holding himself to some impossible standard that no one else would. In a way, there was a sense of mystery, a bit of that “edge of your seat” feeling trying to figure out what Remi was hiding, and most importantly, what happened? No missing or damaged pages, no creases or tears, no underlining or highlighting of text, and no writing in the margins. connect after their killer push and pull with such a sensational build and delicious slow burn, it was scorching hot and cold shower inducing. i was screaming, crying, shaking, yelling, laughing, crying, and panting throughout this whole book.

I always wanted to read some book by this author, but I guess I should have started with another one. But mostly Brick for doing unforgivable things to push the heroine away and, in my opinion, never making it right or better. There was a well-rounded cast of characters from Remi’s parents to Brick’s brother, and her sister, plus so many more. And of course you have the whole scary villain character and story line Remi is all secretive about. This is a Grumpy x sunshine trope small town setting, Brick is a cop this time Remi is the wild child but with a heart of gold, she is special in her own way because she sees colours when she listens to music and paints what she sees.

I tried, really did, almost reached the 70% mark, but I was starting to feel nauseous and I hate food waste so I just gave up and dropped it. Jewelry is a statement and it doesn't always have to be watches and rings, be unique and decorate YOUR body with individual, real-looking semi-permanent tattoos from Forever Never.
