About this deal

I used antique gold Rub and Buff on my chrome kitchen hardware and I love the warmth and character it added to the space! I love that rub n buff matches so well to my antique vibe and depending on how many layers you add on you can create a very antique rustic appearance.

I’d use a couple layers of some type of top coat over it and am not sure it would hold up to the heavy use of a seat… but the legs should be fine. Rub 'n Buff 15ml Tubes Made from imported carnauba waxes, fine metallic powders, and select pigments, Rub 'n Buff® gives almost any surface a new look in minutes. My local Michael’s had all three of the more common gold Rub N’ Buffs that I wanted to sample: Antique Gold, Gold Leaf, and Grecian Gold. Normally, I would use my finger but for sample purposes, I did use gloves as to not mix any of the colors. When used safely and properly it is an amazing product but please read and always follow the care and use instructions as shown on the package.Yes I think so, unless the metal has been treated/coated with a plastic-y finish, then it would likely wear off easily. Here on Liz Marie Blog you'll find a little bit of everything form DIY projects, our cute little farm, and our happy little 2 year old son Copeland Beau.

However, my main frustration with Rub n Buff is that you really can’t tell the color it will appear based on the packaging. Rub n Buff doesn’t require a primer, but it does help to sand any smooth surfaces first to give it “grip”.Do you think it work just as well on something that came in a matte black finish, rather than something spray painted black? I have tried unsuccessfully so far to make RubnBuff stick to metal items…it seems to stick for a minute but then once you buff it buffs right off…Ive tried leaving for a few days and reapplying and it just goes thick and claggy and once again rubs off. Apply a pea-sized small amount to a soft cloth or your finger (I wear latex gloves), and rub the wax onto any metal, wood, plastic, ceramic, or glass surface.

And of course, you’ll need the object you’ll be transforming along with a paper plate, paper towel or any clean surface to blend the Rub ‘n Buff. Rub onto clean, dry, or previously painted surfaces or on post-fired ceramics with a finger or soft cloth, then gently buff to a beautiful lustre.

Grecian Gold – It’s warmer and more bronzy in color than Gold Leaf, while still looking like a gold tone. It must be stiff and not fluffy (a blending brush works well) and you’ll want super fine/soft bristles for best results.
