About this deal

I have read several other Dean Koontz books, so my assumptions about By the Light of the Moon were somewhat set by those experiences. He is the author of many bestselling picture books, including the six titles in his award-winning Big Bright Feelings for Bloomsbury ( Perfectly Norman , Ruby's Worry , Ravi's Roar, Meesha Makes Friends , Tilda Tries Again and Milo's Monster ). If you want a good story about people discovering their hidden powers and being persecuted, you really should read Strangers instead - now that is Koontz at his best!

To preserve their love forever, she put him in an eternal sleep so she could visit every night – literally from the moon and back. The premise behind Koontz's new novel is the same that buoyed Michael Crichton's TimelineDthat there exist multitudes of alternate universes, each varying only slightly from the next. He injects this ragtag cast with a golden serum, altering their physiological and psychological make-up in stunning ways. Although living and working in London, her large-scale celestial installations have appeared across the UK and as far afield as the Middle East.

Which, it is to be noted, is the true moral of this story: sometimes, it is necessary to rely on your friends to get things done that you can't do by yourself.Jillian Jackson, a traveling comedian, is tied up and chloroformed by the doctor before being injected with the same substance. Her coworkers, having been told she was only mugged, cheer her up by telling her she's a badass, while her boss pushes back her meetings to give her more time to prepare.

Religious and folkloric beliefs ranged from the moon controlling our behaviours, moods, madness and destinies to anthropomorphic gods and goddesses. A gently emotional story to reassure fears about moving house, with stunning artwork and a wonderful magical element. By The Light of the Moon represents many of the ideas I believe including the power of positive thinking and our potential for good.

Lauren Baker’s Midnight Moon is an artwork that truly celebrates this lunar pull of creative consciousness. This elusiveness is a theme that frequently appears in artistic representations, whether that’s the swirling ephemerality of Vincent Van Gogh’s Starry Night, the romantic contemplation of Caspar David Friedrich’s Two Men Contemplating the Moon, the dream-like atmosphere of Henri Rousseau’s Sleeping Gypsy or enigmatic Bronze Age objects such as the 1600 BCE “ Nebra Sky Disk”.
