About this deal

A bit of a shame that most people just know him for 'driving home for Xmas', as he is actually a master of the instrument and just became a bit derivative with the sounds that made money. Always was a fan of the Road to Hell 😉 I remember Chris Rea saying in an interview how his manager advised him not to release 11 cd's because it would be commercial suicide. I'm very impressed with the build quality, all the details are flawless - it's a very fine guitar, and value for money is great.

For every lover of good music and for all guitar aficionados in particular, Blue Guitars is an absolute must. With the light string gauge and easy playability high up the fretboard, playing the Bo' Rhap solo was a very joyous experience! It is clear -- and Rea makes it clear -- that the blues pervades everything in American musical history.

From "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Fat Bottom Girls" through to "One Vision" and "I Want It All", this guitar undoubtedly gets you much closer to Brian's tone than any typical Strat or Les Paul. Originally launched in 2001 by Burns, this version of Brian May's Red Special guitar was released in 2006 by Brian May Guitars, a company headed up by Barry Moorhouse of House Music, Pete Malandrone (Brian May's tech) and Brian May himself.

Country Blues was the natural development, the direction that the original Blues would take, once it had arrived in the American South: it was a dark time, a time of fear, people had to work hard during slavery, even harder after they had been released, wandering around unemployed, aimlessly. I read a story once which said that he wrote Driving Home for Christmas when he was doing just that - he'd just been dumped by his record label and was driving back to Middlesborough with his mrs, when he had the idea and wrote the song on the way.True to the look and spirit of the "Old Lady", the instantly recognisable pinstripe-bound, double cutaway mahogany body shape features an acoustic chamber modelled on Brian's original design that enhances the Special's natural resonance and decreases weight. The 120 songs composed and arranged and recorded by Chris Rea with his friends are so authentic and deeply felt, it is a 'Gesamtkunstwerk' like nothing else.
